Get your socks on

One of my favourite fashion themes is the girly versus boyish look. Think short rocker-style hair with a dress, wearing a men’s sweater or oversized tee with flat shoes and a leather cuff bracelet… you get the idea.

Living in Italy for a year didn’t cure me of my love for ‘boyfriend’ dressing, but those days also made for a kick-ass real-life stiletto catwalk bootcamp… and left me with uncontrollable urges to get my mademoiselle on with a pencil skirt and lipstick.

This playful juxtaposition has manifested itself during a recent unforeseen shoe shopping expedition. Check it out on the next page!

My eyes in 2013

In the “In 2013” series, I will be covering my most beloved products for the face, eyes, cheeks, lips, nails, some fragrances and general beauty musings. This time I reveal my bag of tricks for sparkling eyes.

Sleek eyeshadow palette in Oh so special (around €12 online - mail delivery included) is a versatile and sweet budget topper. It has lots of possibilities for novices and experienced eyeshadow lovers alike. I especially enjoy the great pigmentation and the combination of matte and shimmer finishes. There are two neutral brown shades that are perfect for filling in my eyebrows on the go. The twelve colours can be combined into sweet, girly eye looks or you can play with them and create some full-on smoky bedroom eyes.

Estée Lauder Double wear concealer in Light (€24) was my go-to undereye concealer this year. To me, this brand is slowly getting rid of its old-fashioned image and is embracing change, marketing more products towards twentysomething babes. They make a brilliant concealer that gives opaque coverage, wears incredibly well and contains SPF 15. Enough said!

As far as eye shadow brushes go, I’ve been sticking with budget buys that do a great job, and don’t feel the need to change them for more expensive ones just yet. Read all about my favorite brushes on the next page!
